Photography, in the way I approach it, is first of all a writing.
The etymology of this word does not specify that it is the meeting of two meanings, on the one hand ” phôtós ” of photon, the elementary particle of the electromagnetic waves or of the light and on the other hand, ” graphie ” of writing?
My work is thus attached to the root of the word ” photography ” and all my research aims at playing with this meaning.
To do this, I start from the axiom that photons contain a mnemic mass, which is translated into a subliminal message when recording light information on my negative or my photographic sensor.
Thus, the framework given to this experiment is not intended to build figurative images that are already codified for the reading but to create abstract visuals, or even figurative abstraction revealed by visual pareidolia.
Consequently, I attach as much importance to the discourse as to the image even if both can be dissociated in fine but for my photography, the argument certainly accompanies the reader in his reflection.
This work received the Le Quotidien de l’Art Prize in 2022
